Three Tunes by Andrea Beaton

Andrea Beaton, Cape Breton fiddler extraordinaire, has been composing some lovely tunes which can be heard on her CD’s and found in her tune books on her website at andreabeaton.com I have been driving along happily playing her CD’s for some time now and wanted to share three of her tunes with you, with her kind permission.

The QCF already plays For Grandma, a lovely march written in memory of her grandmother Elizabeth Beaton. Keen eyed note readers will find a couple very slight differences in the sheet music between the pdf below and the QCF version. I used the version in Andrea’s tune book but put the tune in cut time rather than in 2/4 just for ease of note reading.

One for the Floor is at first a bit tricky but lots of fun to play once you get the beat. And Outlander is a very fine celtic sounding slow air with lots of minor chords for which I could not resist making a harmony part. I hope you enjoy these tunes, and do check out Andrea’s website and grab a CD or two! Hopefully Andrea will be visiting the island in person again as soon as this pandemic is over!
